Heartly

For the thing you can’t stop thinking about.

If you can’t let it go, Heartly helps you let it go. Write it out, see what’s underneath, and work through it one conversation at a time.

Writing screen: an entry about a breakup, Heartly’s reply, and its next question.
What I heard: Heartly names the loneliness underneath the breakup and suggests starting with Attachment.
Where we’ll start: Attachment, in five stages, each one a conversation.

How it works

Three steps. The hard one is last.

  1. 1

    Write out what’s looping.

Say it as it comes, as messy as it is. There’s no form to fill and no right way to put it. Heartly reads what you wrote and asks the one question that goes a little further.

An entry that begins ‘I am going through a rough time after my break up’, Heartly’s reply, and the question ‘When it’s quiet and you’re alone with yourself, what’s the feeling that keeps coming back?’
  2. 2

See what’s really keeping you stuck.

Heartly tells you what it heard: the feeling underneath the thing you keep replaying, and where it would begin. If that doesn’t feel right, you say so and it looks again.

What I heard: ‘You’re carrying something heavy after this breakup, loneliness that keeps finding you in the quiet.’ Suggested start: Attachment.
  3. 3

Let it go, one conversation at a time.

Your path: five conversations, built from what you wrote, each one building on the last. Finishing one opens the next.

Where we’ll start: ‘Attachment is where we’ll start, because that’s what came through in what you wrote.’ Five stages, each a conversation.

What people bring

What can’t you stop thinking about?

It’s the first thing Heartly asks. Breakups bring most people in, but it’s the same loop with a different cause, and the path fits the cause.

  • Someone who left
  • Someone I’ve lost
  • Something someone did to me
  • Something I did
  • What might happen
  • Something else

A few taps first, so your path fits you. Every answer gets a line back, in your own words.
